O PROCESSO DE ENVELHECIMENTO E A PERCEPÇÃO DE ESTÉTICA FACIAL DA PESSOA IDOSA
UMA REVISÃO DE LITERATURA
Resumo
Este trabalho aborda a inter-relação entre a percepção de saúde e a autopercepção de estética facial em idosos, destacando a relevância dessas questões para o bem-estar, autoestima e qualidade de vida dessa população. Por meio de uma revisão de literatura, buscou-se identificar os fatores que influenciam a percepção da estética facial e sua relação com o processo de envelhecimento, considerando aspectos físicos, psicológicos, socioeconômicos e culturais. A análise das evidências disponíveis demonstrou que as alterações faciais decorrentes da idade impactam diretamente a identidade, a autoestima e as relações sociais, sendo a saúde bucal e a estética orofacial componentes fundamentais dessa autopercepção. Observou-se, entretanto, a predominância de estudos voltados ao público feminino e a escassez de pesquisas específicas sobre estética facial em idosos, o que evidencia uma lacuna no conhecimento e reforça a necessidade de novos estudos na área. Conclui-se que compreender a estética facial como parte integrante da saúde e do envelhecimento permite ampliar o papel da Odontologia na promoção da autoestima, dignidade e qualidade de vida do idoso.
